What is Going Green?
There is so much talk about “Going Green” but what does it really mean? Basically, “Going Green” pertains to pursuit of knowledge and practices that lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles. These decisions and lifestyle changes will help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations.
”Going Green” also means promoting “green” practices, products, technologies, and sustainable alternatives.
Today, “going green” has become an advertising tagline that has become so popular it could compete with other famous taglines used by popular companies as McDonald’s. Despite the ubiquity of the phrase, many people are still hesitant to support the “green” campaign because they sometimes equate “green” products to breaking the bank. That is, some would think “Going Green” carries such a huge price tag.
There’s even an article posted at CNN Money entitled The high price of gong ‘organic where interesting points were raised. The article stressed that recent surveys show that American consumers are getting turned off by the organic hype for three reasons: price, skepticism and confusion.
However, there are also consumers who share the same passion towards protecting the environment and they prefer to use Earth-friendly products because they are natural and are healthier compared to the commercially-produced counterparts.
Consumers have become smarter about the way they shop and they have learned to find quality organic products without hurting their wallets.
Entrepreneurs have also adapted the mentality and are starting to make changes with the way they do business. Passionate businessmen have started putting up “green” businesses by producing products that are environmentally friendly. Others have supported the campaign by making little changes to their processes in order to conserve energy and minimize waste. Even Apple Computer announced that they are going to make “green” products in the coming years.
“Going Green” is here to stay which is quite a good thing. Planet Earth needs all the help it can get and turning your business into a “green” money-making machine would be such a welcome addition to the family.
